If so, join this workshop to learn how to draw him and potentially other manga/anime characters, using the triangle and circle method. There are countless ways to draw manga characters, but here's a chance to learn Ro's personal method. The workshop will focus on intermediate level artists, but all level of artists are welcome!

Sachi Tanimoto learned calligraphy from her father, Master Calligraphy artist, Soshuu Tanimoto. She was trained as a Calligraphy teacher and taught Calligraphy in Kobe, Japan for 9 years, from 1988 to 1997. She has been teaching in Bellevue, WA, from 2002 to the present. Calligraphy is the art of using an ink-dipped brush to create beautiful Japanese characters, called kanji. Try your hand at this ancient art and learn some of its history in this beginner's calligraphy workshop. Learn the tools used, how kanji writing developed over the ages, and create your own beautiful kanji art.
Ikebana -Japanese Flower Arrangement - By Charles Coghlan, Ikebana Teacher and owner of Hana Design
Charles is a student of Master Sensei, Aiko Ii, student of Sofu Teshigahara, founder of the modern Sogetsu School of Ikebana. He has been teaching Ikebana since 1995, and is the owner of the compnay Hana Design, which provides Ikebana demonstrations, classes, and parties. At this workshop you will learn Ikebana's history and philosophy - from its origins in the ancient Shinto religion, to a medieval Samurai discipline, and how it exists today as a modern/abstract art form. Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Mary Ohno has studied classical Japanese dance for 60 years and earned the professional license and its title of "Hanayagi Fumiryu" in July 1966. She moved to the U.S. for the purpose of introducing traditional Japanese Arts. In 1983 Mary founded KABUKI ACADEMY to instruct Japanese classical dancing, Naga-uta style shamisen music and the general concepts of Kabuki Arts to the Pacific Northwest community. At this kimono workshop you and your friends can try on a variety of beautiful kimono, complete with traditional accessories! Mirrors will be provided, and picture taking is encouraged! Men's, women's, and children's kimono will be available.
Moon Meditation - By Seattle Koyasan Temple
Seattle Koyasan Buddhist Temple is located in the Central District of Seattle, and is a temple in the Shingon-shu 真言宗 (Shingon Sect) of Japanese Buddhism. Buddhist meditation involves guiding your heart to a quiet state by focusing your consciousness on a single thing, and observing the truth from that state through the Buddha’s teachings. At this workshop you can learn the “Ajikan” style of meditation, using the image of the moon as the focal point for contemplation. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to participate in meditation! The priest will teach you how to breathe, how to sit, and what to think of as you sit. Sit with us and enjoy the experience of welcoming your new life.

She teaches Japanese cooking classes at PCC Natural Markets and Hot Stove Society and also offers in-home private classes. At this workshop class you can learn how to make onigiri – Japanese rice balls wrapped in seaweed – which are a staple of any Japanese lunch!
TEBUKURO (The Mitten) Puppet Show - By Mimibunko 耳文庫
Mimi Bunko started our activities as a reading group in 1997. We recited Japanese novels and essays, and performed volunteer activities like recording books for seniors in the Seattle area, and those with difficulty reading due to impaired vision. In 2006, we began presenting puppet shows, and the nine members currently do everything from creation to performance of these puppet shows. We focus on readings at elementary schools, and devote great effort in creating the works by hand so that we can delight children with interesting Japanese stories. Sushi: Adapting from Edo-mae to Seattle - By Shiro Kashiba, owner of Sushi Kashiba
In 1970 Shiro Kashiba opened Seattle’s first sushi bar, following his dream of bringing Tokyo style sushi to America. He went through grueling apprenticeships in the Ginza district of Tokyo, where he studied under the sushi master Jiro Ono. Over the decades he has become a sushi legend in his own right, opening several wildly successful restaurants in Seattle and across the country, including Nikko and Shiro’s. At this seminar Shiro Kashiba will tell the story of his life, and his journey to bring sushi to America.

Workshops will be held on the 4th floor of the Meydenbauer Center while the Seminars will be held in the Main Exhibit Hall near Entrance A. Workshops and Seminars wil be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
