SWEET Co. is a Japanese bakery founded in Seattle in 1913 by Soshichiro Watanabe. Soshichiro decided to move back to Matsumoto, Japan in 1923 and the company has been providing handmade baked products in the area since then. It has survived World War 2, and various economical downturns in the 19th century. The current president, Kyota Watanabe, is the great-grandson of Soshichiro and is the 4th generation. Because of the centennial anniversary in 2013, he wanted to research the company's history and develop a vision for the next 100 years. SWEET's return back to Seattle would bring valuable meaning to various generations, as well as to promote friendship and exchange ideas between the cities.
