MC by Tomo "Hoku" Angie: Tomo (AKA Hoku) has been a bilingual emcee for many years in both Hawaii and Seattle, doing various events involving Hawaiian music, hula, sports, information technology and/or food & hospitality industries. She also works as an event promoter: she has done many Hawaiian- and Japanese- related events, and more recently is supporting Bollywood (Indian) events in greater Seattle area. Tomo works freelance as an interpreter and translator as well as a tour coordinator, and is also a regular contributor as a travel writer for a Japanese magazine. And as if those gigs aren't keeping her busy enough, she also fulfills her creative interests by being a recording artist for Hindi-Japanese songs, and also by posing as a model at Gage Academy of Art.

Seattle Kokon Taiko (SKT), Washington’s first performing taiko ensemble, is based in the local Japanese American community and has performed at schools, arts festivals, street fairs, community programs, corporate events and in concert throughout Washington and Oregon. SKT traces its roots to the Seattle Taiko Group, which formed in April 1980 following a dynamic performance by Ondekoza at the Seattle Cherry Blossom Festival. In SKT, we try to combine the ancient with the modern; our repertoire is a mix of traditional pieces and contemporary compositions. Through taiko, we hope to contribute to the development of a uniquely Japanese American art form –Japanese in origin, American in expression– that weaves threads of continuity between generations and builds bridges of understanding among people of all nationalities and walks of life.

Songs of Hope (SOH) is a Seattle-based musician group established to support Tohoku (north-eastern Japan) through a benefit concert series after the March 11th triple disaster in 2011. Their musical activities have been spread throughout the community, and now, in addition to doing concerts, they also often appear in a variety of events and visit schools.
Through their support activities, SOH became the mother organization for the community choir “Chorus of Hope”, the bake sale group “Nadeshiko Bakery" and the study group “Seattle To Fukushima: Helping Mothers in Fukushima through Study and Activities”. Since 2016, SOH has been supporting “NPO いわき放射能市民測定室「たらちね」/Mothers’ Radiation Lab Fukushima", a radiation measuring center and clinic run by mothers in Fukushima with the physicians.
Traditional Karate Demonstration by Washington Shotokan Association: We will highlight our youth students ages 5-11 demonstrating their skills through kihon (basic techniques), and kata (pattern moves). We will also highlight our elite black belt community with advanced skills and applied kata.

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting traditional Shotokan karate in a formal, respectful, and fun environment. Our instructors help students reach their athletic goals, as well as leveraging the benefits of self-discipline, respect toward self and others, and strengthening their body and mind.

Songs of Dreams (Yume Medley) by Evergreen Glee Club (EGC): EGC will perform a medley of songs in Japanese featuring Yume, or Dream. The entire performance will be 18 minutes. We will be accompanied by our pianist and led by our conductor.

The Evergreen Glee Club (EGC) is the only Japanese men's chorus in Seattle with a 11 year history. Over the years, we have performed at a multitude of venues including Mariner's home game 2x (US National Anthem), Sakura-con 2x, Japan Fair 2x, Japan Week 3x, and other similar venues.

Entering the Gojyahei Ren at the age of 19, Oka has devoted his life to Awa Odori since. At 39, he became the head of the Gojyahei Ren and has put strength into spreading the "Gojyahei Style". He has performed his Awa Odori at the former Emperor's 80th birthday, and has also been awarded by Tokushima Prefecture in 2013. Currently, he his not only spreading Awa Odori across Japan, but is even spreading it around the world.

Halau Hula O Makanaokalani (Hula Studio) has been a member of the Kirkland community for the past 14 years. We teach both traditional and modern hula as well as the use of Hawaiian hula implements. Our students have participated in workshops in Hawai’i and performed on Waikiki stages. They also participate in workshops in the Puget Sound area and perform at numerous local events. Japanese Classical Martial Arts 日本古武道 by Shintokan Dojo 神稲館道場: We will be demonstrating some techniques from several different koryu bujutsu, or classical martial traditions. The weapons and techniques were developed by the feudal warrior class and passed down from teacher to student for hundreds of years. Not only do these martial traditions preserve the physical techniques used by these warriors, but also the mental, psychological, and spiritual training considered essential for success in battle.

Sakura-Con is the Northwest’s oldest and largest anime, manga, gaming, and Asian culture convention. Hosted by the Asia Northwest Cultural Education Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Sakura-Con began in 1998 as a small, three-day event: a party for anime fans at the Double Tree Inn, in Tukwila Washington. In recent years, Sakura-Con boasts an attendance of over 23,000 individuals. As the size of the fan base has steadily grown, so has the scope of their mission. Operated by a 100% all-volunteer staff, their main goal is to foster learning about the cultures that bring us our favorite media. Sakura-Con 2020 will be held on April 10 - 12, so make sure to save the date! Japanese Taiko Drumming by CHIKIRI & The School of TAIKO: A Japanese music program combining the strong bang of Taiko drums and the beautiful sound of Japanese flutes, and other musical instrument. Performance will be made by mainly the students of The School of TAIKO and led by " CHIKIRI": the group which founded by school founders as the core.

CHIKIRI & The School of TAIKO provides Fun and Exciting Japanese Taiko Drumming programs based in Seattle/Bellevue since 2009. This group founded by full time Japanese Taiko Performers Ringtaro and Asako Tateishi. Ringtaro is former member of world renowned Taiko group “ONDEKOZA” for 10 years and performed daily at Walt Disney World/Epcot for 7 years. Asako also at Epcot as Disney’s international artist. The School of TAIKO provides Taiko classes for all level. Currently about 80 students are in classes and enjoy lessons and performances. They provide various performances for 100,000 audiences / years at Sakura-con, Celebrate Asia, Cherry Blossom Festival, Japan Fair, Japan Week and more mainly in Puget Sounds area. Furthermore, since 2014 they produce the "Bellevue World TAIKO Festival" with special guest performers from Japan and out of state for introducing high quality Japanese performing arts and connect community by world music. Through this events, they donate Taiko equipment / programs for victim of natural disasters and challenged schools.
