Aki Sogabe started to introduce this art form to the Northwest in 1978 and now her works are included in the collections of many corporations, organizations and universities. Her public art is also installed in the Pike Place Market.

Ikebana International is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of Ikebana, Japanese-style flower arranging.
The Seattle Chapter, chartered March 16, 1959, is dedicated to cultivating and perpetuating the study of Ikebana by demonstrations and public exhibitions, with a deep purpose of establishing a better relationship among all people.
We celebrate our 60th Anniversary this year (1959 - 2019).

Seattle Go Center teaches and promotes the Asian game of Go. 4000 years old, this strategy board game continues to fascinate players around the world. The Seattle Go Center was established in 1995, with its own building in the University District of Seattle, thanks to the generosity of a Japanese professional Go player, Iwamoto Kaoru. It is now a membership-based nonprofit organization.

Seattle Japanese Garden
Open to the public since June 1960, the Seattle Japanese Garden is one of the most highly regarded Japanese-style gardens in North America.
Tucked within a vast arboretum in a fast-growing city, the garden attracts over 100,000 visitors annually and is beloved both locally and by garden-lovers from over 30 countries around the world.
Visitors also have the opportunity to attend our many educational programs and festivals. The garden hosts a wonderful series of special events throughout the season, including Free First Thursday & Family Saturday Programs, the Tanabata Star Festival, Moon Viewing and Maple Festival. Tea presentations are offered in a traditional roji garden setting. There's always something for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
